Events: 2005 Murphysboro BluesFest Update

Hello Blues Lovers!

The event date for the 2005 Murphysboro RiverSide BluesFest has been moved to Saturday, September 24th. It was originally scheduled in July and by popular request, it has been squeezed into one day instead of 2-days.

Our booking manager has received an incredible amount of media packets for local and national talent. Thank you! If your favorite band does not make it to the bill this year, they will be considered for the following year. We currently do not have an official line-up yet. More info to come.

Sounds like a good idea to me! Cooler weather and SIU back in session may help attendance. I also would much rather see better bands in one day than having to use your money to book lesser ones spread over two! The first year it went to two days was awful. "Hurricane" Wilson was no where near as good as his reputation and Big Daddy & the Blues Kickers were only an average cover band. Lew Jetton was the only one worth listening to! I'm sitting here looking at the poster on my wall from the sixth annual festival with Lonnie Brooks and Big Mike Griffin. That was a great one and the crowd was much bigger than the past several years! To paraphrase a famous movie quote "If you book well, they will come."
